Eileen Gray’s Dragon Chair recently pulled in $28 million at an auction in Paris of Yves Saint Laurent’s estate, a record for furniture.
Irish-born Gray passed away in 1976. She created the chair while at art school in London from 1917-1919 — it’s called “Fauteuil de dragon” because of the ams shaped in the form of dragons.
Many say the auction has given the designer the fame she has deserved for a long time.
